Virtual Conference: Guild Goes Green – Drive towards Net Zero

Registration is closed for this event
What are the leaders within the Pipeline Industry doing to reduce their impact on our environment? This Guild Goes Green virtual conference looks to further explore, share and promote the industry drive towards Net Zero. Speakers include; • Sophie Tucker, Sustainable Drainage Manager at United Utilities • Kevin Rendell, Operations Director at Ltd National Grid Ventures • Barry Hayward, Director of Wessex Water Enterprises • Chris Clarke, Future Strategy Director of Wales and West Utilities

The relentless increase in global CO2 emissions, use of raw materials and waste from human activities is affecting the natural world and climate which will, if unchecked, irreversibly worsen the environment that we take for granted. Global temperatures are rising, and it is highly likely they will reach a point where mankind will lose any effective control over the eventual outcome. However, it is considered that, right now, it may not be too late to change the way we behave and arrest the rate of climate change. It is vital that every human being on this planet considers the effect their current behaviours have on our environment. Humans work most effectively in organised groups, so in particular, what can we do in our pipeline industry to reduce our impact on the environment?

Following on from the successful ‘Guild Goes Green’ series of webinars that have just taken place we are planning to hold a Virtual Conference for promoting “Net Zero” in the pipeline industry. The overriding aim is to stimulate lasting change and for everyone attending to think and act differently about the effect their actions have on the environment and climate change and to influence others to do the same. There’s been a lot of talk of a ‘green recovery’ from Covid. This is the reason behind The Pipeline Industries Guild wanted to offer a Virtual Conference with Industry Leaders with a sustainable, green recovery and Net Zero theme.
