Webinar: The History of Pipeline Leak Detection

Registration is closed for this event
The Pipeline Industries Guild is pleased to welcome Harry Smith, Sales and Senior Research Engineer for Atmos International. Pipeline leak detection now offers an array of technologies to quickly identify the size of a leak and its detection. The technology has significantly improved over the last decade, however despite ‘modern methods’ introduced in the 1970s, it hasn’t always been so accurate. Harry will introduce the early pioneers, the techniques and bring the audience up to date on how leak detection is being applied today.

In this webinar attendees will discover the history of pipeline leak and theft detection methods, learning how advancements made in both internal and external methods over the years have helped to define legislation.

Guiding delegates through the history of pipeline leak detection, Harry will highlight how advisory regulation became mandatory in many countries.  He will explore the challenges that still remain for leak detection and the future solutions that could be used to meet the target of zero spills.

Harry will discuss how leak detection has had to develop increasing sophistication and how he’ll share the Atmos vision of seeing every pipeline equipped with some form of leak detection.
