The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a major new sewer, urgently needed to protect the tidal River Thames from pollution. Beneath the heart of London, at 25 kilometres long, up to 65 metres deep, and more than seven
metres in diameter, it is the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the UK water industry.
Colin Murphy, engineering manager for Tideway’s west contract will present an overview of the project background and development. He will discuss the critical aspects of this large-scale project and the unique challenges faced by this world leading project. He will provide an overview of the design and build solutions which will ultimately ensure that London receives a key infrastructure asset of the highest quality that has been delivered in the safest manner and fit for generations to come.
